If you have come this far, you probably know what a ventilated facade consists of. However, we will start by reviewing the concept:
The metallic ventilated facade is an increasingly used constructive solution whose ultimate goal is the elimination of the thermal bridge to generate excellent insulation between the external conditions and the interior of the building.
In such a way that it is made up of two layers (insulation and lining) that form an air chamber between these two and that make it possible to break the thermal bridge.
The metallic ventilated facade is a great solution against extreme temperatures
The ventilated facade tends to be used in places where high temperatures are reached for obvious insulation reasons. However, it is important to note that a metallic ventilated facade is an optimal solution in the same way to combat low temperatures.
This is so since its insulation layer retains the heat from the interior of the building and its own design helps to accumulate this heat, with its corresponding energy savings.
Metallic ventilated facade yes, but what metal can be used?
Undoubtedly, a question that must be asked when looking for the best solution. In this post, we will consider options for the most demanded metals in the world of facades:
Steel: noble metal most used in construction due to its great benefits and its cheaper price compared to other metals.
Aluminum: light, resistant and long-lasting, although its price is somewhat higher.
Zinc: It can last more than 100 years installed without losing its properties and has a very different appearance from other metals. This metal is one of the most expensive in terms of metals used in construction but there is not doubt that it is worthy.
What insulation can be used?
Once the exterior coating has been clarified, it is time to talk about the insulation to be used for the construction of a ventilated facade. For a metallic ventilated facade, in most cases one of the following solutions is usually chosen:
Rock wool: has a great behavior with respect to fire
Polyurethane foam: it has a very low thermal conductivity, which makes it the best insulator although it is more vulnerable in the event of a fire.

One of the properties of metal is how easy it is to manipulate it, transform it and, ultimately, give it the appearance that best suits us in each case. Any of the metals described above can be transformed with the desired colors and geometry.
For this reason, it is important to consider what aspect we want our facade to have; if we want a modern and unique facade or a classic but elegant one.
